When joining Enova, new customers in NSW will have the option to credit their new account $50, or donate that $50 to the Severe Wet Weather Shelter Project from the 1st of April 2021 until the 31st of July 2021.

What is the Severe Wet Weather Shelter Project?

The Byron Community Centre's Severe Wet Weather Shelter Project (SWWSP) seeks to address the immediate need of rough sleepers in the Byron Shire during extreme weather events. This project provides temporary shelter during extreme weather events, increasing the resilience and wellbeing of Byron Shire’s rough sleeping community.

Why are we donating to the SWWSP? IMG_0950 (1)

We believe in the astonishing difference kindness and the power of community can make.

Homelessness is an issue all over Australia, and increasingly in the Byron Shire - with the second highest number of rough sleepers in NSW behind inner city Sydney.

Each year, the Byron Shire experiences multiple extreme weather events, typically heavy rainfall over a number of days and nights and associated flooding.

Generally, these events aren’t serious enough to trigger formal State Government Emergency Evacuation Responses, but they have significant physical, emotional and psychological impacts on the large numbers of rough sleepers in the local area.

For over 30 years, the Byron Community Centre has played a key role in establishing and hosting a range of projects, services and events for locals and visitors in Byron Bay, and Enova is proud to partner with them and support their Severe Wet Weather Shelter project.

What does the $50 donation go towards?

720x540

$50 helps the Byron Community Centre to provide safe and dry shelter, bedding, food and drinks, dry clothing and basic material aid to support rough sleepers during extreme weather events.
