At our recent event to celebrate Enova's launch into Queensland we met a number of Brisbane's passionate social enterprise and community energy organisations and enthusiasts. What a thrill it was to be welcomed by such an enthusiastic crowd with many opportunities and discussions to be had.
Enova Chair Alison Crook officially launched Enova into Queensland, our first expansion out side of New South Wales; Felicity Stening, CEO, gave a great introduction to all things Enova and our special guests Morrie O'Connor from Community Living Association and Ian Williamson, cafe workers and director of Nundah Community Enterprises Cooperative highlighted CLA & the Co-op's great work. We were delighted to be hosted at the awesome community-owned Food Connect Shed by our fabulous MC for the night Robert Pekin co-founder of Food Connect Brisbane.
Amongst our guests for the evening were Luke Read from Energetic Communities, Vicki McLeod from Zero Emissions Brisbane, Richard Warner Chair of the Queensland Social Enterprise Council and many others with a great interest in transitioning our energy system to one that is community owned and provides fair access to all, to renewable energy.
Check out our great video made from the night, for some climate action and community energy inspo!
We thought it would be great to share some more images and quotes we collected on the night too.
"I think there's something wonderful about keeping money local... from people for people. Renewables are really important to me. Decarbonising what we do, how we operate." Megan, Brisbane Customer
"I think the no brainer is the decarbonisation of the electricity sector. It's already technically possible." Vicky McLeod, Zero Emissions Brisbane
"It's really important that people get involved in terms of climate change.... we need people engaged and I think community energy is one way we can do that and feel like we're making a change. It's exciting to see a model where you give something back too." Richard Warner, Coordinator of Nundah Community Enterprises Coop and Chair of Queensland Social Enterprise Council

$100 provides a nights’ accommodation or pays for 3 outreach trips by a CLA worker, to access and support a person in crisis.
This special offer was for new customers and during the month of March 2021 only. T&Cs apply.
